INHO, the Good Samaritan action into practice

Loving as God Loves — in service of Haiti’s children

In the parable of the Good Samaritan (Lk 10:25‑37), Jesus does more than teach a moral lesson. He reveals the heart of God: a heart that sees, approaches, is moved with compassion, and acts.

Who is my neighbor?

The doctor of the Law knows the commandment: to love God and to love one’s neighbor. But Jesus expands the meaning of “neighbor”: it is not only the one who looks like me, but the one who needs me — even if he is far away, even if he is forgotten.

The priest and the Levite: faith without compassion

These religious men walk past the wounded man. They choose the Law instead of love. Jesus reminds us that true faith leaves the road of the Temple to bend down toward the one who suffers.

The Samaritan: love that dares to take the first step

The Samaritan, a despised foreigner, becomes the icon of God’s love. He sees, he approaches, he bandages, he carries, he watches over, he pays, he promises to return. His love is concrete, courageous, persevering. This is the love that INHO seeks to live for the children and vulnerable people of Haiti:• seeing those no one sees• approaching those who suffer• accompanying them toward healing, education, and dignity• giving without counting the cost, like Christ

Loving here and now

John warns us: “Whoever says, ‘I love God,’ but does not love his brother is a liar.” (1 Jn 4:20) Paul adds: “The love of Christ urges us on.” (2 Cor 5:14) And James concludes: “Whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it commits sin.” (Jas 4:17) To love like the Good Samaritan is to answer today the cry of Haiti’s children. This is INHO’s mission. This is our mission together.
